It may help to look outside of your workplace or outside of your department because your immediate co-workers may not always be comfortable giving the advice or guidance that you need is someone to bounce ideas off of to make sure they make sense. My focus is networking and career development for women in science.  That's why I like the multi-disciplinary nature of AWIS. The women are from all sectors of the work force.
